Careers information camp

If you‘re a cadet and you’re thinking about an Australian Defence Force career then you will be interested in attending the careers information camp.

Currently, cadets make up 17 percent of total ADF enlistments, even though they’re less than one percent of the recruiting target age group.

The camp concept, which is part of the new Cadet Recruiting Framework, was the original idea of an Air Force cadet who is now an Officer Cadet studying engineering at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

During the camp, cadets –

  • Get the chance to tour Navy, Army and Air Force bases
  • Meet and talk to a wide range of serving members in many fields
  • Hear presentations from recruiters and discuss testing and job options

For Able Seaman Danielle Cahill from Training Ship Sirius, the inaugural 2007 camp really opened her eyes to the range of career options in the ADF.

“I didn’t realise there were 213 different types of jobs. That figure shocked me,” she said.
