To Join the Australian Army Cadets you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Australia
- Be aged between 12½ and 17 years
- Have your parent or guardian complete the Health Declaration Form
- Not be a member of any other Australian Defence Force Cadet (ADFC) organisation or the Australian Defence Force
- Be able to attend the activities of the unit you wish to join
- Agree to abide by the ADFC Code of Conduct
- Complete an application form and have your parent or guardian sign it
- Have your application accepted by a Unit Commander
