Navigate across country by day:
Cadets learn the theory of how to navigate using map and compass through e-learning and practical instruction. The cadets then put that experience into practice in a field environment. Cadets navigate in a variety of vegetation and weather situations by day and by night.
Cadets are skilled in navigation by suitably qualified instructors and are guided through their practical application of knowledge by Army Cadet Staff. Older cadets with a higher order of skill may be allowed to navigate across country leading other cadets with no Army Cadet Staff. In saying that, no route is planned where cadets are not within striking distance should there be an issue that requires assistance.

Navigate across country by night:
As with navigation by day cadets are given the opportunity to experience navigation by night.
Navigation by night requires a sound level of skill however all cadets will have guidance and assistance from Army Cadet Staff until they are confident and well versed in the skill set required.
